Make Mum’s Day in Coolamon Shire

Spoil Mum this Mother’s Day and enjoy everything Coolamon Shire has to offer!

Take a stroll around the heart of the Coolamon... you may just find that hidden treasure in one of the wonderfully unique and quirky shops. There's everything from beautiful antiques, quality clothes, individual homewares, stunning jewellery, home-made produce and so much more!

After shopping, pay a visit to the country gem Ajanta Cafe! This must visit cafe's rustic charm will have you feeling right at home.  Indulge in either morning or afternoon tea and take in the eclectic gift store with products on every wall... even the roof!

Treat Mum to a day of live entertainment and harness racing, head to the Coolamon Showground for the Mother’s Day Harness Race Meet. The day starts at 12 noon and entry is free for ladies.

Or for the nature loving Mum, take some time to explore Kindra State Forest. This beautiful forest is full of walking tracks that will lead you on an adventure. Pack a picnic and take in the flora and fauna of the forest. The forest has seating and viewing areas, designated picnic areas and is well signed so you won't get lost. At the top of the rise there is an excellent view of the Travelling Stock Reserve dam. The dam provides a habitat for a wide variety of birdlife including the endangered Superb Parrot, Swans, Pelicans and Ducks. You really will have the best seat in the house!

For a weekend adventure with your Mum, set off for the quaint town of Ganmain. There's more to it than being famous for that tasty meat pie!

Every Mum loves a market, so treat her to the Ganmain Mother’s Day Market this Saturday. It's on from 9am until 1pm at the Ganmain Hall. Browse through the selection of homemade goodies, plants, clothing, jewellery... maybe even buy some local produce to cook Mum a delicious Mother’s Day dinner!

Then step back in time with the Gamain Historical Museum - the museum displays farming implements, household items, sporting and war memorabilia and a large archive of photographs and newspaper items.

Put on your walking shoes, pack a picnic lunch and work up an appetite by taking the Ganmain's Murumbang Interpretive Nature Walk. This nature walk winds around the Ganmain Forest, railway dams, Boggy Creek. Watch for birds such as Herons, Ibis, Spoonbills and Ducks. Listen out for frogs and insects in the grasses and reeds.

If you’re keen to go further afield, take Mum on a country road trip - experience the picturesque heritage towns and history of the Coolamon Shire on a leisurely self-guided tour.
