Coolamon Garden Show blooms for Easter

Coolamon residents and visitors are invited to stop and smell the roses on Saturday 7 April when five households open up their beautiful and unique gardens as part of the Coolamon Garden Show.

The garden show will take place from 10am until 4pm and raises funds for playground equipment in Kindra Park in memory of Damien Piltz and Kate Furner, young Coolamon residents who died of leukaemia. 

Coolamon Tourism and Business Development Manager, Linda Tillman, said each garden is exciting and creative, and represents the history and unique environment of Coolamon. 

“The gardens on display are all very unique and different from one another and will no doubt give visitors many ideas that they can take home and implement at their own homes,” Linda said.

Details of the gardens are as follows:

  • Peter and Teresa English will show off their Acreage Garden with water feature, an orchid hothouse, a magnificent chessboard and elegant courtyard. Listen to the sound of the She Oaks whispering your name as you pass by.
  • Harvey and Rose Higgins show you their Historical Garden that is over 100 years old. Wander the old pathways through the established gardens and imagine what life must have been like all those years ago.
  • Dennis and Diane Mattingly own the Builders Garden, filled with interesting elements from Coolamon’s past, including the materials from the Saleyards.
  • Albert and Diane Suidgeest have the Wedding Garden complete with dam, jetty and their own mountain. See the birds and the extensive vegetable gardens and visit the dog kennels and cattery.
  • Bill and Gabrielle Thompson have created a Recycled Garden filled with flowers made of recycled wire and ceramics. This garden holds hand painted treasures alongside quirky creatures and a display of over 50 old birdcages.

Tickets which provide entry into all five gardens are available at the Up-to-Date Store for $15. School aged children are free. While you are visiting Coolamon for the Garden Show you can indulge in boutique shopping or a delicious coffee and listen to the live music in the central park. Don’t miss Coolamon’s other attractions including the RSL Museum and the Up-To-Date Store with the only fully operational Lampson Cash machine.
