Get set to “Love Your Library” in Coolamon!
After receiving a grant through Public Libraries Australia, Coolamon Shire Librarian, Helen McLoughlin, has come up with a range of fun activities to celebrate the National Year of Reading at Coolamon Shire Library’s “Love Your Library” Open Day.
Taking place on Saturday, November 24, from 10am-12noon the day is completely free with something on offer for all ages!
Little ones can participate in Kindermusik Sessions run by ‘Lil Melodies of Wagga or join in ‘celebrity storytime’ with some local firemen lined up to read some books all about fire engines.
For older children there is a colouring competition with book voucher prizes, biscuit icing, bookmark construction and a recycled toy planting workshop. The Wagga Clown Club are also heading out to entertain the children and play dress-ups.
Youth can enjoy getting a temporary tattoo from Amanda Norman’s Airbrushed Tattoos after borrowing books, magazines or DVD’s from the Youth or Junior Fiction Section. They can also compete in a football handballing competition run by some local footy club volunteers.
Adults haven’t been forgotton with demonstrations on talking books, e-readers and a healthy lifestyle display incorporating the Thai Chi group who regularly meet at the Library. The Thursday morning knitting group will also be clicking the needles at the Open Day and both groups welcome new members.
Riverina Regional Library are supporting the event with staff on hand to help at the Open Day and Coolamon Shire Librarian, Helen McLoughlin, encouraged “the whole community to come along, enjoy morning tea with us and explore their local library! There will be a great range of displays and demonstrations as well as some great prizes and giveaways".
