Local businesses know their customers and are changing to suit during COVID-19

Businesses within Coolamon Shire are finding new ways to operate during this difficult time. Local owners are finding innovative ways to meet restrictions and social distancing requirements while keeping their businesses going and putting a smile on the faces of their customers.

Let’s keep it local! These great examples below show how businesses really know their customers, their needs and are making changes to suit them. It’s important to show your support to our community and local businesses. Before you buy, please stop and consider if you can get it locally.

Thank you to businesses for your ongoing work to keep our community going during this difficult time. We understand that this is a tough time for you. It’s unsure how long these currently conditions will last and we only hope that once things go back to normal our community, people and businesses are stronger.

A list of changes to business operations has been put together to make it easier for our community members.

We’ve seen some great examples like:

  • Coolamon Butchery are offering free delivery for locals with orders being placed by phone

  • The team at the Coolamon Shire Library are helping people choose books over phone or email and they are offering delivery around the Shire

  • The Royal Tavern are cooking up weekly specials with pick up only, with Friday night pizzas and various other specials. Keep an eye out on their Facebook page

  • Lumela Coolamon are showing us new stock on Facebook and Instagram. You can view, select and message the team to arrange payment, pick up or delivery

  • Most local cafes and eateries are offering take away options – we still need coffee and treats!

  • Fisher and Farmer have taken online shopping to the next level with orders packed up and posted to customers

  • Maddox Group Exercise and PT have made the transition to virtual training, keeping people fit and healthy both physically and mentally

  • Many community groups and businesses have started filming online to connect with their customers via Facebook Live or Zoom, ranging from cooking groups, sewing or storytime sessions

Another way you can show your support is to buy gift vouchers to spend in the future - future you will thank you! While you’re at home why not take advantage of the many delivery, take away and online services available.

A Facebook page has been created by a local business owner as a place for businesses to share specials, promote changes to operation and links to websites. Please stop by and visit ‘Open for Business – Coolamon Shire on the Grow’.
