Families flock to Coolamon this October long weekend

It will be a crow-free zone in Cowabbie Street, Coolamon on Monday 5 October when the annual Scarecrow Festival hits town again!

Starting at 9.00am and running through until 3.30pm, there will be a range of cash prizes for the best straw-filled creations, including Best Handmade Scarecrow, Best Live Scarecrow, and the Most Creative Kids Scarecrow. Special guest judge, Kay Hull MP will be there to bestow the honours. If you’re lacking a scarecrow but possess some impressive facial hair, it’s still worth heading down, with cash prizes for Best Beard and Best Moustache.

The official opening of the Festival will take place at the Coolamon Fire Station Museum, and there will be entertainment throughout the day including helicopter rides, raffles, 60 street stalls and live performances from Southern Cross Performing Arts and Jarrod Sherman & Rick Jenkins with Play it Cool.

So if you’re on the hunt for some school holiday fun, head down to Cowabbie St, Coolamon and join the party!
