Day One:

This workshop is a perfect introduction to the art of block printing!

Merrin will guide you through the process of carving a lino block, applying printing ink, textile medium and paint.
We will discuss shape, colour, repetition and combination.
You will create a simple design on paper, practice printing your block on paper, and explore different options before committing to the fabric.

Day Two: You will print your table runner.

This workshop is perfect for beginners with no previous experience necessary. We will be using sharp tools to carve our so a steady hand and a cautious approach is always recommended.

What is provided:
An easy to carve piece of rubber to create your block
All materials and equipment to carve and print your block
A calico table runner to print your design onto

What to bring
Some simple designs/ patterns or photographs that could influence your Lino Print. (we will discuss designs in relation to the carving and printing process at the beginning of the workshop). There will be visual examples to inspire you as well.
An apron or clothes you don't mind getting dirty
Gloves
Water bottle

Morning and Afternoon Tea included.
